Recently launched by the European Commission, the Food Labeling Information System (FLIS) is an IT tool that allows its users to select a food category and retrieve the mandatory EU labeling indications in 23 different EU languages over 19 food categories, such as food supplements and food for specific groups. It also includes links to the relevant legal provisions and existing guidance documents. FLIS serves purely as a documentation tool and has no legal effect.
Nevertheless, this tool can support food business operators to implement and improve the application of the revenant legislations. Also, it can be a source for clear information to consumers.
